I’ve worked in the property and development industry for a long time and I know first hand how challenging it can be to be the only woman in the room. It has traditionally been very male-dominated, especially with women being very underrepresented in leadership roles. But I’m here to tell you that we need women as leaders and I want to help you to take that next step.
In this episode, I’ll take you through how you can be a leader in your position, organisation and role right now. You don’t need to wait until you get promoted or you find a new job. You can start showing up, taking up space and becoming a leader for yourself and your colleagues right now.
We need women in leadership roles to bring diversity to the industry. We know that women bring unique perspectives, experiences, and ideas to the table, which will lead to more innovative and creative solutions.
As a leader, you can bring others on the journey with you because women who see other women in positions of power will be more likely to believe that they can achieve the same level of success. This can help to break down gender stereotypes and encourage more women to consider careers in property and construction.
I encourage you to seek out and find mentors in your network. If you can’t find any – go searching. Finding somebody who will give you wisdom, experience, advice, and advocate for you will help propel you forward in your own career. And then you can help other women to do the same.
I’m sharing with you six very useful strategies that you can start employing today in your job to set you on the path to leadership. Grab a pen and paper and write these down!
Women have such a crucial role to play as leaders in the property and construction industry and I want to help you step into your own leadership skills. By bringing diversity, inspiring others, driving success, and creating a supportive workplace culture, women can help to shape the future of this industry for the better.
