Ep 37. 11 Ways To Boost Your Confidence At Work

A lack of confidence is something that I see holding women back all the time. Some women struggle with a lack of self-belief and others have the inclination to avoid self-promotion or don’t want to appear egotistical, which means they show up less confident and miss out on opportunities presented to them. 

Confidence isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s something you need to keep cultivating in your life, so today I’m sharing 11 ways to boost your confidence so you can begin to see the benefits unfold in both your professional and personal life. 

I talk about leaning into your strengths and understanding what it means for you to be the most authentic version of yourself. It’s so important to know what makes you unique because these strengths are your superpowers if you allow yourself to embrace them. 

So often women downplay their achievements, which is why it’s all the more important to make a conscious habit of celebrating every win. I talk about creating a “brag book” where you collect evidence of all you’ve achieved so you can look back on your successes and celebrate your achievements. 

If you want to boost your confidence, it’s important to know your skill gaps and take action where you need it most. Think about what skills or experience you need to keep progressing in your career and look out for role models you admire. It’s so beneficial to have a network of people around you who inspire you, encourage you and demonstrate the attitudes and behaviours that you want in your own life. 

So much of confidence is about having a growth mindset. Mistakes will always be part of the journey, so it’s about learning from these mistakes and challenging yourself to make sure you are constantly working towards something bigger. 

I also talk about practising self care, which expands into curating your environment and taking ownership over how you show up and the words you say to yourself and others. Self care looks different for everyone, so it’s important to understand what helps you feel the best version of yourself. This might mean leaning towards more positive people and experiences and also detoxing from people and environments that have a negative impact on you. 

Confidence starts with showing up and being who you are, even when it feels scary and intimidating. When you understand the value that you bring, your self-belief will grow. I hope this episode encourages you and gives you some practical strategies you can put in place to begin to foster a greater level of self confidence.
